Guidance on a data quality framework for health and social care

Creator:

Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)

Subject Keywords: Data, Quality, Health, Social Care
Type: Guideline
Region: Republic of Ireland
Description:

A considerable amount of data is collected on a regular basis about health and social care services in Ireland. It is vital that there is confidence and trust in the quality of this data and information in order to support the provision of safe and efficient health and social care to patients and service users. Accurate, relevant and timely data is essential in order to deliver services and improve health and social care. It can be used to inform decision-making, monitor diseases, organise services, support policy making, conduct quality research and plan for future health and social care needs, both at local and national level.

HIQA has recently published The Data Quality Guidance, along with a Background paper and an interactive version of the Data Quality Assessment Tool in relation to a Data Quality Framework for health and social care.

An animation on the importance of data quality has also been developed.
